The National Service Scheme unit was formed with a noble aim of serving the different sections of the under privileged and the needy. The NSS unit of MCET actively organizes various social services activities for the communities from March 2004 onwards. The unit donates clothes, baby food etc. to the Infant Care Centre of Council for Child Welfare. The NSS volunteers of the college have donated Blood to a number of patients admitted in hospitals in Trivandrum. The program organized by NSS includes free medical camp for the people of Anad panchayat, Blood donation camp, Health awareness, Cleaning program in KSRTC depot, Hospitals etc, Planting medical tree in the premises of Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital, Distribution of study materials and other accessories for Govt. L P Schools of Anad and Chullimanoor. The unit organizes intensive campaign for sensitizing the students about the need for fostering communal harmony, National Integration and fraternity through various programmes. The unit also hosted the Annual meet of National Service Scheme during the year 2010.
Like every year- this year too(2012)- the volunteers of our National Service Scheme(NSS) club conducted a plethora of activities. This time, various medical, first-aid camps in collaboration with Anad Residents Association were held and awareness programs such as the blood donation campaign was organised in the college by RCC Central Unit. Study materials were distributed at Chullimanoor LP school and Lourth Matha LP school where a new library was also started. Money was collected and handed over to a two and a half year old hernia patient Master Jishnu and bone marrow cancer patient Ms Anju of Iqbal HSS.
