Computer Society of India – Students Chapter:
 Mohandas
college of Engineering and Technology was
established in the year 2002. At this infant stage of
development of our College, we were able to organize a
student’s chapter in our College. Engineering Students
are the best cross sections of the society and as such
they have got a social obligation and moral
responsibility to the larger public. For every thing
there is a time. Now IT and Software industries have
roared back from recession and set back followed by the
fall of World Trade Centre on September 11, 2001 and are
likely to create one lakh new jobs in 2004-2005. During
the last two years, there were ups and downs in the IT
industry. These Ups and downs are cyclic. Now actually
IT is the biggest Job creator for the educated people.
IT stands at the helm of e-governance revolution. The
slow moving IT industry has pickup excellent momentum in
the country by a 40% increase.
IT provides hazzle free one stop single windows solution
to the citizen.
IT improves the quality of life of common man.
IT reduces valuable tine and manpower.
All public utilities such as phone bill payments,
Intelligence security system, ATMs, Electricity billing,
Water charges billing, Banking, Birth and Death
registration, Driving License, Tax Depts., and Treasury
Transactions etc are being done through IT.
Knowledge is supposed to be doubled in every 5 years.
Where as in computer science computing power is doubled
in every 18 months. According to MOORE’s Law
(co-founder of Intel) Knowledge has become the key
economic resource. Teacher acts only as a mentor for the
students. They have to work hard otherwise they will be
left behind.
Akshaya is an ambition e-literacy project id Govt. of
Kerala aimed at imparting functional digital literacy to
at least one person per house hold of the entire states.
The effects of computer society of India, Trivandrum
chapter in this regard has culminated in signing a MOU
between CSI and Govt. of Kerala under the
mass-e-literacy program for at least one lakh people in
kerala with in a years time. On students chapter members
will do excellent work in the area of mass e-literacy
program, because education is the manifestation of
perfection and thereby can not only earn some money
while learning, but our institution image also will be
enhanced. Such activities will also fulfill the vision
of our President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam “India becoming
a super power by 2020”
All Kinds of campus recruitment tests demands only
strength in fundamentals of the candidates own
discipline. Then basic arithmetic, Common Business
English, Group discussion and Computer Awareness
essential. Engineering students are privileged ones to
get a job, By Branding themselves as member of CSI
Students Chapter, they can make a difference and become
achieves in the society.
